September News from Grade 3

Welcome Back to School!

I hope everyone had a wonderful summer!  The children seem well rested, happy to be back with their friends, and ready to get started on their new adventure.  I am looking forward to a fun filled year and so are the children.  We have so many activities planned and exciting topics to cover in class.  I am sure the children will have a terrific, challenging, and successful year in Third Grade.

Meet the Teacher Night

This year’s Meet the Teacher Night is scheduled for Wednesday, September 8th from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.  Please stop by, introduce yourselves, and check out your child’s new classroom.  The children can’t wait for you to see their room, desk, and all the assignments they’ve been working so hard on in class.  It’s a great time to come in to familiarize yourselves with our daily routine, the homework policy, as well as get answers to any questions you may be having.  Together we can make this a productive and rewarding year for “our” children.  I look forward to meeting you all on the 8th!

We Love to Read

Children at this age love to read and what better way to show it than by doing a creative book report.  This year I will be assigning bi-monthly book reports.  Each report will have a different theme and project to complete.  The children have so much fun creating their reports and sharing them with their friends.

We are doing September’s book report together in class. I have chosen The Adventures of Tom Sawyer  by Mark Twain, adapted by Monica Kulling.  I’m sure we will all enjoy this classic tale about a young boy named Tom and his best friend, Huck , as they embark on one thrilling escapade after another.  You can expect these reports to be coming home in backpacks at the end of the month – stay tuned!

Hip Hip Hooray! It's Grandparents Day!

Calling all grandparents…  Please plan on joining us Friday, October 1st as the O.L.A. community pays tribute to all of our wonderful grandparents.  The entire school is working very hard to put together an exciting program just for you!  I know you won’t want to miss this special event.
