The kindergarten Reading program is phonics-based. High Frequency Words (HFW), words are also learned by sight. Children read books during class that are related to the HFW and phonics they are learning. Every week, the homework is a Decodable Reader, which is a small book that the students must take home, read nightly and return to school on Friday.

In Math, kindergarten begins with the children learning how to sort items based on different characteristics. We then move onto geometric shapes, patterns & positions. Students master their numbers, allowing them to then learn addition and subtraction. Students also are introduced to time, money, measurement and graphing. Our entire curriculum is hands on and students use manipulatives daily to achieve these math concepts.

Our service project is coordinated with the Sisters of Notre Dame. Every kindergartner is assigned a Sister, who becomes their Prayer Angel. The students pray for their Prayer Angels and send cards to them. The kindergarten also collects items for the Leicester Food Pantry every month
